We like to share our experience with you about what we have learned from working at Bigriggen Park.
So, 4.5 months later…….. we become resident kangaroos at Bigriggen Park.

It’s interesting living where you work. We are literally 10m away from the office. Working at a caravan park it’s a lifestyle being a caretaker. You met a lot of people which we enjoyed so much. This is one of the biggest thing about traveling, some times you don’t even remember much about the place but you do remember the people and how much joy you had with them. Also you made some good friends.

Lyn, a very kind and fun Lady. Before we left Rathdowney. She invited us to her house have morning tea with home made cake. she also prepare some cake for us on the road. Thank you Lyn.
From Monday to Friday this park is pretty quiet, we might only have 10-20 people in the park. On the weekend, however we could have over 300 people or on school holidays this could be over a 1000+ people, lucky thing is we had 60 acre. We learned to run a successful park it need to run efficient. The owner had organized this park so well. Bins are in one spot, all booking need it done online or walking in when it`s not so busy, no booking over the phone, it works well. When guests arrived ,Check-in become a peace of cake. The whole check-in job and booking system you learned in 1-2 days.

So what else we have been doing in the park? We sell Ice-cream, make coffee and stock up shop items.

Of course, we did some real jobs too. Ruben bags Ice and wood everyday, re-painting deck and tables. Also helped clean up hill and plant some trees.

Lilia did office jobs, drawing the board for shop, made information centre and created a little garden feature.

We also set up lawn sign together for Easter .

We worked hard and we played hard. At Easter school holiday we had Live music came to park and face panting for kid, also we had some games for kids to play at the park, that was great fun.

We love this park it’s amazing so much wild life such as possums, kangaroo, bandicoot…..we saw so many animals ……

The park is beautiful now,we are getting into winter and all the trees start changing color. Some of morning was very cold down to 0 degree was freezing cold , we had ice frost on our car and caravan. But during the day its still around 20 degrees.

We have been thinking about starting our own caravan park one day and from this experience we did learn it`s not that easy. You have to be in the park 24/7, there are always people here. you have to watch them make sure they do the right thing and also look after them make everyone happy too. It’s also hard to find good staff. So for, the owners are really hard to go on holidays. It’s very hard for us to leave this place, we loved here so much. Also the owners are so nice and kind ,they have been looking after us so well. we even build up a very good friendship to each other . But we had this plan to go around Australia ,and this country is very big so we have to keep going. There are so many beautiful places in Australia we still have a lot too see. And when you work somewhere you can really feel what it would be like to live there.

A big “Thank You” to Eberle`s family.
David, Sherree, Trent , Toni and Ezra (our little one he was not in the picture). Thank you for 100 % trust and 100% supporting us. We enjoyed work in the park and every moment with you guys. We had a bloody good time in Bigriggen park.

The bigriggen store will continue…………
go to Bigriggen Park part 1
P.s Toni , the girl in the cover photo. When Lilia out of the office, some of guests went to her said : how come you are here ? I just talked to you in the office!!?? Or call Lilia –“Toni” 😭 That’s was so funny every time it happens 🤣
So Lilia and Toni made a really good friendship and they called each other sister.

Dear Lilia & Ruben Kangaroo,
What a wonderful story you have told about your work and adventures in the park. You both have painted a wonderful picture of the life you led. Now it’s “on the road again” for you, and we can’t wait for your next adventure.
