Timbertown,Wauchope, NSW

After left Red Rock, we looking for somewhere where to get away from the coast. We wanted to get away from the salt ,noise of rolling waves and people, we wanted a small town quiete and peaceful so we choose Timbertown. This town was small but great , it close to Port Macquarie and National Parks.

Timbertown , Wauchope

We camped in Timbertown Camping ground ,it`s right next to the Timbertown Heritage Village which is the same business. We took a unpowered site which you could camp any spot you like. This unpowered site was great , you still get a water tap hocked up, and we could not believe it only cost $15 a night !!

camping next to the forest, no one surround!!

After set up , We visited Old Bottlebutt in Burrawan State Forest. The Old Bottlebutt (Corymbia gummifera) is the largest Red Bloodwood tree in the southern hemisphere. The spectacular tree has significant natural heritage value with an estimated age of more than 200 years old. It is one of the largest and most unusual trees of its species, with a recorded girth of more than 16 metres just above its base.

The next day, we checked out these little steam trains in the Lions Reserve- Yippin Creek in Wauchope.

We are very lucky this only operates once a month ,they are miniature steam engines and electric trains and …. you could take a ride on them it only cost $2 a ride for 3 loops. Lilia was super excited about it , I was not planning to get on it but Lilia said “once in a life time”. I thought it was mostly for children but I must say that I did have fun. This was running by Wauchope Lions Club volunteers, they are not engineers it`s all about hobbies. The whole railway station was awesome!! it set up with sausage sizzel in the park so families could have a pick nick or party there and ride the trains at the same time. We had a fantastic fun day we never ride on the steam train it was mini but this just amazing experience for us.

Timbertown Heritage Village

Lilia and Ruben …can you see us?

After that, we went to Timbertown Heritage Village., it cost $30 entree fee but 100 % worth to visited. The whole Heritage Village was big, It also includes rides on “life-size” steam trains, tractors and horse-drawn carriage. Once your are in you don’t have to pay for anything else.

When you entries to village that you felt like you were back in time.

The property is massive , it has so many old buildings, cottages and old steam machines. Some of the cottages were in great condition others were falling apart but managers tried to kept it good ( they have no many skill workers/volunteers) . Timbertown was all about the saw mills and they still had one there which was on steam! no electrics !

They also have some animals residences in the village. such as horses, pigs, ducks, gooses, lamps, alpaca, camel and ostrich……

The whole village has really good set up for adults and children

We had so much fun here, will definitely come back again.

Port Macquarie

Everyone told us , Port Macquarie is beautiful, so we came to checked out Town Beach Lookout.

of course, gonna visiting Tacking Point Lighthouse !! Built-in 1879, Tacking Point Lighthouse is the thirteenth oldest lighthouse in Australia.

Ellenborough Falls

The road from Wauchope to the falls was close so we took a “long detour” drive from Timbertown to Long Flat via Tom`s creek road to Comboyne than turned right to Colling road towards Elands. This rote was very steep and windy it took us nealy 100+km instead 60km. But it all worth to visited this spectacular view.

This 200 metres, Ellenborough Falls is the tallest single drop waterfall in NSW with descend 641 steps to the bottom of the falls.

We got big Axe in Kew.

We had amazing time in Wauchope area, still too much to see but you can`t explore it all , someone told us “you always leave something for next time” and it`s bloody right!!
