Davies Creek, Dinden National Park

Davies Creek , Location just outside of Mareeba. This time, we are going to Upper Davies Creek camping area and we both think here is the most popular camping ground in Atherton Tableland.

We wanted to camping at upper Davies creek for ages but these camping sites are always booked out on the weekend. We petty much checked every weekend if there is any cancellations or ” LUCK” . In January, we decided to book a site whatever when and which site, as long as site FREE we want it !! Of course, the earliest we can get is in mid of March, which is 2 months ahead. We got site 1 free , so we just booked it.

This time , we asked our camping friends Damo, Emily and Talon to come as well . These are the people we went with to Mt. Spurgeon.

Before the date comes, the weather was really bad. There was lots of rain over the Tableland but the weekend is looking better in the forecast. Every time we go camping with them, the weather always like this– Should I Stay or Should I Go !!?? We just don`t want to camping in the rain!! Thanks God, Friday morning, the sky has open up and gave us little blue sky, so we went! Ho-RAY-

Davies Creek is a beautiful creek with lots of waterfalls. The spot we took was camping ground site 1, it just right next to creek . With all of the rain for past couple of weeks, the creek was over flowing and running very fast, lucky our camping ground is higher up than the creek , Site 2 camping ground was almost under water. We set up our camp on Friday around 4PM. We made a small of a fire to create some smoke to get rid of the little flies and got comfortable. Had a beer on hand and some nice snacks aside what an wonderful day out of camping ! Damo and Emily arrived around 7PM , they both had to work till late on that day but they were organizing so well and made here on Friday night, how awesome our camping friends arrived!! We helped them setup so they could get comfortable and have drinks together next to fire.

Next day, we just relaxed at the camping and swimming in the creek . Of course, people who booked site 2 did not show up so lucky for us, we can relax and play at that site of the creek, actually site 2 has better swimming hole then site 1.

We did not do any walk or exploring this time it was too wet on the track, so we just want to relax do nothing and enjoy surrounding. We saw quit a bit of wildlife, Monitor lizards, turtles, snake, bandicoot and some fish in the creek. Overall was a nice relaxing camp with good friends.
