South east Asia trip part 6: Thailand Songkhla–phatthalung

Hat Yai – Songkhla

Songkhla museum

Our first day in Thailand we decided to go to Hat Yai . We got on the highway. One thing Surprise to us that Thailand is so much cleaner then Malaysia and the roads are really good and the other hand you don’t need GPS ! The signs are good. Its so easy to travel !!We arrived in Hat Yai . It’s a big city which we don’t really like . I saw a beach sign and followed this name of the place “Songkhla”. This is a beautiful place with a really long beach, very local we couldn’t find any foreign people here . We drove around the place looking for a hotel, motel or guesthouse, we couldn’t find much then we saw this big hotel at the beach sight. We wanted to ask here about the price, the moment we drove in we got a flat tire…. How sad…….Right away a really friendly lady showed up we parked at the hotel and she told us she will call her brother. The brother showed up looked at the tire and he said not good to us then drove off. A few minutes later he showed up with a mechanic and fixed the tire. It’s amazing from the moment we had a flat tire and the time its been fixed was just 30 mins ! How good are these people even they didn’t speak much English ! We could still have a bit of talk with them and we asked them where we can find a cheap guesthouse. Her brother offered us to follow him on the bike so we said goodbye to the lady , Lilia gave her a hug and the lady said “goodbye my sister”. At the guesthouse we said goodbye to the brother they were really good to us.

A beautiful mermaid statue at the Songkhla beach

The next day we went the hotel again to see them for the last time
Bye bye my sister !!thank you very much we love you …

On the way to Krabi

We drove off from Songkhla with good memories. The drive is quit long around 300 km to Krabi. We followed the highway to Krabi which made it a bit faster. Don’t expect that a highway is the same as Europe. These highways are really slow. Most traffic is heavenly loaded and won’t drive much faster then 60 km/h. On the highway you have lots of touristic signs which show waterfalls, caves and hot spring really nice. The only problem is they don’t show how fare it is. Sometimes it can be 10km or 50 km quit annoying.

We visited a cave on the side of the road nobody was there. It wasn’t that touristic. We did find a bus tour with all Germans. We asked if we can join the tour this was no problem. The cave was quite nice lots of bats but a bit smaller then the one in Kuala Lumpur. After that we continued our journey. On the highway again.

Next was a big waterfall it was flowing fast because lots of rain…beautiful sight. This is so nice about having your own transport. You can stop anywhere.

We knew we couldn’t drive to Krabi in one day so we looked for accommodation in phatthalung. One the way we decided to rest for a while at a Buddha temple. Here we met a monk. He was very nice he kept giving us water bottles. He couldn’t speak English but we tried to communicate.

We got the lucky water from Buddha, thank you very much, we had all the way lucky with us!!

We continued our journey to phatthalung we passed it pretty quickly. So we just searched for a hotel/resort on the way. We where lucky to find a nice resort for just a few dollars we had a private house. Really nice .

only 300TB    Phudinsow Resort & Coffee House

We had some time left and we decided to see a waterfall just around here, The drive was longer then we thought. But really local lots of small streets. The waterfall was okay we enjoined it and very happy we travel with a little scooter ,can go anywhere we want!!

Thailand’s Highway just so easy to rode ,rest area everywhere !!

More coming soon.
