Tully Gorge and Koombooloomba Dam

We camped at malanda caravan park and were looking for a little day trip. We started the day off going to ravenshoe. They have a great bakery so we had some pie’s. From there we went to Tully gorge. The drive to it is just beautiful. Driving through the misty mountains. We arrived at the Tully gorge lookout where you can see the waterfall. The waterfall is not running at the moment because they diverted it in to a hydro pipe. When the wet season hits I do think the waterfall has water running over it. But because of that you can hike on to the top of the waterfall which is beautiful. At the edge there were a few little pools to swim in.

After this we continued to koombooloomba dam which we thought wouldn’t take to long. But 14km on the dirt took a while. But it was worth it, arriving at the dam the lake it has this blue glow on it. Also we could see our selfs camping out here. There are not many rules and you can just set up camp where you like. This day did end being a bit of a mission and us arriving late back at the campsite in malanda.
