Noordhorn, Groningen, Netherlands, where is My( Ruben) home town. We went for a walk around the village,I just relies that how beautiful Noordhorn is. The church, the windmill, farms, playground, deer park, shops and water channel go through the village made little bridge everywhere. Now I understand why Lilia always said : Noordhorn just like a fairytale town.

We started walk from home, the first view was Windmill. Noordhorn windmill was build in1890.

This old church was build in 13 century.

Streets, beautiful houses and Farms

The stores

Deer Park and children`s play ground

After meeting Lilia I look at my village as a tourist now and that’s very different. My little village where I grew up is beautiful. When you grow up the houses look like normal to you, because you never see anywhere else. Now I traveled so I can see how beautiful my village is. I got lots of memories from this village and been in every street a couple of thousand times. I’m happy that I grew up here and I got a nice and free childhood. I could walk to school it was only 100m, no need for my parents to bring me to school, how great is that.

What a lovely story you both have put together. We loved the walking tour as it gave us a really good perspective of the village. Is is quite the fairyland with its quaint homes, traditional windmills and a magnificent 13 century church. So many beautiful photos of the village and farm areas gave us a wonderful feeling of your village Ruben.
We can now see why you love your town. So unusual to hear of a skate sharpening store, but of course quite necessary with the winters you have. The brick road in herringbone pattern looks very old and sets off the street of beautiful homes. We can just imagine going to the Smits bakery in the general store and getting a warm loaf of bread and some good smoked cheese for lunch.
Thanks, this time I took a good look of my home town, it is very beautiful 😊
I know exactly what you mean, it’s not until you move away and return as a visitor that you truely see your home in a different light.
Even though I’ve done it several times, I still look forward to doing the same soon when I head over to Perth.
Your photos are fantastic, love them. What makes your town extra special is the age of the buildings. Something we in Australian don’t fully appreciate.
And Lilia is right…. It is a fairy tale.
Haha…Lilia said to me: told you it’s fairly tale🤩
